Tips for tourists

About the peaks of the Caucasus. Dolomites

Dolomites rock massif located in the Uzunkol region (Karachay-Cherkessia), has several peaks, the highest of which is the northern one (3780 m). The name Dolomites was given to the massif for its similarity to the peaks of the Dolomite Alps in Italy. The dry rocky southern walls of the mountain are very popular with climbers, especially since the approach from the Uzunkol alpine camp to the walls takes a maximum of a day, if the load is heavy. At the foot of the walls are very beautiful Dolomite lakes, where the assault camp is set up, and tourists
spend the night before or after the simple Dolomites South pass, leading to the Chungurdzhar valley.

Dolomites from the north. There is some glaciation here.

In hot summers, the snow melts on the northern slopes, exposing ice and rocks; rockfalls occur. Here, people walk only along the ridge.
