Madrid is engulfed in protests. Metro passengers and airline customers are suffering.

From Wednesday to Friday, December 20th and 22nd, Madrid metro drivers will go on strike, and on Thursday, a large-scale protest will begin at the capital's main airport, Barajas. European media are reporting on this.

On Wednesday, December 20, train drivers in the Madrid metro stopped train traffic from 5 until 9 a.m. The protest will continue on Thursday and Friday. The union is demanding higher wages, postponed retirement dates, and longer vacation periods. If an agreement is not reached in December, the protest will be repeated from January 8 to 12, 2018. On these days, train service is planned to be suspended from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. 

Barajas Airport security staff are joining the protests. According to Euro Weekly News, the strike will last until January 8. Workers will suspend their activities daily from 5:30 AM to 6:30 AM, 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The union is demanding improved working conditions.

Passengers flying to Moscow on these days on Siberia Airlines flights at 11:40, Air Europa at 11:25, and Aeroflot at 11:25 should be prepared for departure delays.
