A bomb exploded at a market in Yala Province in southern Thailand, killing three people and injuring 18, Interfax-Tourism reports, citing the Bangkok Post newspaper.

"The young man parked his motorcycle near a butcher shop at Pimolchai market in Yala province and ran away. The shop owner tried to move the motorcycle, but it exploded, killing her and a customer who was nearby," the report said.
The explosion injured 19 people and took them to a local hospital. One of the victims later died from his injuries. Many stalls in the market were also destroyed.
"Police estimated the bomb's weight at 20 kg. They believe the explosion was carried out by a militant group active in the area, whose goal is to undermine public trust in the government," the publication notes.
