The Valley of Castles is another “calling card” of Dzhily-Su.

Kala-Kulak Gorge is one of the most picturesque gorges in Kabordino-Balkaria. Translated from the Balkarian language, it means "Tower Gorge."

The rocky outcrops were formed as a result of erosion and weathering of rocks on the slopes of the gorge.

The castles are quite impressive in size.

Some have very bizarre shapes.

But, for all their originality and quirkiness, the gorge's slopes are fraught with danger. Mudflows are a common occurrence here. The photo shows the traces of a mudflow that caused considerable damage to the Dzhily-Su ravine.

A path runs along the stream through the gorge.

The bottom of the gorge is illuminated by the sun for a short time only in the early morning and evening, so moss and lichens reign here.

In the evening, guests of Dzhily-Su, in search of cell phone service, climb the ridge of the gorge to share the latest news with their family and friends.

Or just admire the last rays of the sun.

From the top of the ridge there is a beautiful view of the Dzhily-Su tract.

In clear weather, the castles look impressive against the backdrop of majestic Elbrus.

Architecture of Nature!

Our last evening in Dzhily-Su. This extraordinary corner of our planet will remain etched in my memory for a long time.
