Aeroflot announced numerous flight delays and cancellations due to heavy snowfall in Moscow. On Tuesday, February 6, 67 Aeroflot flights were cancelled, and there are also cancellations for Wednesday, February 7. At the same time, the company managed to significantly reduce the number of delays on the remaining flights, reports Travel.ru's own correspondent.
Passengers should be aware that the actual number of Aeroflot flight delays and cancellations is significantly higher than the lists published on the company's website. The latter currently lists only three dozen canceled flights. Passengers should check the status of their flight on the airline's and airport information boards before arriving at the airport.
As a reminder, Aeroflot canceled over a hundred flights on February 4-5. Significant delays and isolated cancellations are also being experienced by other airlines flying to Sheremetyevo, as well as by a number of carriers at other Moscow airports. Passengers flying to these airports should also check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport.
Passengers experiencing a flight delay or cancellation have the right to a full refund or to change to a more convenient flight than the one offered by the airline. By default, most airlines relocate passengers on canceled flights to the next available flight, even if that flight is on the following day. Passengers are not obligated to accept the airline's offer and can choose a more convenient flight. Furthermore, the carrier is obligated to provide meals to passengers delayed for more than four hours, and hotel accommodations for passengers delayed for more than eight hours during the day or six hours at night. Passengers of any airline should monitor the status of their flight one to two days before departure to be able to promptly respond to potential changes.
