The St. Petersburg Botanical Garden is hosting a winter lilac festival.

These days, the world's only winter Lilac Festival is taking place in St. Petersburg. Visitors to the Botanical Garden can see blooming white, pink, and purple lilacs, as well as a multitude of tulips and azaleas.

Spring was artificially created for tubs of lilac bushes by moving them successively into warmer rooms, TASS reports. The "Lilac February" festival features lectures, family quests, and master classes on creating your own perfume from the Perfumers' Guild. The Botanical Garden on Aptekarsky Island is also hosting an exhibition, "Lilacs and Tulips in Watercolor," and a photo zone featuring blooming tulips. Tickets to the festival are 400 rubles for adults and 200 rubles for children aged 4 and older.

The Peter the Great Botanical Garden is one of the oldest in Russia. The garden's greenhouses cover one hectare and stretch for about a kilometer.
