Airbus passengers will be able to take a nap next to their luggage.

By 2020, Airbus A330 and A350 aircraft will feature passenger berths in their cargo holds, Business Traveler reports.

One of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, Airbus, has unveiled designs for berths that will be located on the lower decks of aircraft. A330 and A350. Sleeper modules will be placed in the aircraft's cargo holds, allowing airlines to sell additional sleeping accommodations to passengers. The project will be implemented in collaboration with aircraft seat manufacturer Zodiac Aerospace.

According to Airbus experts, the new passenger modules with beds should be easily interchangeable with conventional cargo containers. This will allow aircraft to be configured based on actual needs. The company's specialists promise that this innovation will not impact the aircraft's cargo system.

Jeff Pinner, Head of the Airbus Cabin & Cargo Program, noted that this approach to commercial air travel is a step toward passenger comfort. The company has already received positive feedback from several airlines on the initial prototypes, he added.

Airlines are expected to be able to acquire converted Airbus aircraft with sleeping modules in the cargo hold by 2020.
