Saravia will suspend flights at the end of May.

Saratov Airlines (Saravia) announced it will suspend flights in two weeks. The reason for this is the Federal Air Transport Agency's (Rosaviatsiya) requirement to stop selling tickets for dates beginning May 31, Travel.ru reports.

The carrier published a letter from the regulator on its website, which, incidentally, contains errors (March is confused with May). It instructs Saravia to close all ticket sales for dates after May 30 and not to carry passengers abroad whose return is scheduled after that date. Tickets for dates after May 31 are accepted for refunds.

Saravia was subjected to extensive scrutiny following the crash of one of its planes in February. Rosaviatsiya stated it was dissatisfied with the results and had already proposed the company's closure in March. Saravia disagreed with these findings.

Saravia, which previously focused on flights from its Saratov base, now serves a wide range of routes in various regions, including the Far East. The carrier operates Embraer 190, Yak-42, and An-148 aircraft.

Aeroflot is likely to increase the number of flights to Saratov from Moscow in the near future (currently, the company operates two flights per day). The company has also reduced summer fares for most dates to the spring-fall level of 4,286 rubles.
