Commuter trains have started running to Volgograd Airport.

A commuter train station has opened at Volgograd Airport. Eight daily commuter train services have been extended from the city center to the station. Most of these services run through the city from Shpalopropitka station on the southern edge of Volgograd, reports Travel.ru.

Currently, departures from the airport are scheduled at 8:35, 9:58, 12:13, 13:39, 17:53 (only to Volgograd-1), 19:45, 20:28, 22:01. Travel time to Volgograd-1 is on average 34 minutes (ticket price is 40 rubles), to the southern end of Volgograd - almost an hour and a half. The commuter train does not stop at some platforms. Return arrivals to the airport are at 7:18, 8:18, 10:38, 11:48, 15:33, 18:30, 19:07, 20:05 (departures from Volgograd-1 - approximately 30-40 minutes earlier, the schedule from other stations can be found on the Russian Railways website or Yandex-Schedules).

It is expected that the number of flights will be increased during the World Cup. Flights to Volzhsky may also be offered. The airport station is called "Gumrak Airport" and is located near the old airport terminal. Passengers should be aware of low platforms along the entire route and very steep and high steps on commuter trains.

As a reminder, a new domestic terminal opened at Volgograd Airport last week. While it doesn't yet have jet bridges, other passenger amenities have been significantly improved. The old terminal is planned to eventually be converted into a bus station.
