80 wine and agrotourism routes will open in Kuban.

Krasnodar Krai authorities plan to launch approximately 80 "wine roads" and agritourism tours in the region in 2018, Kuban Minister of Resorts, Tourism, and Olympic Heritage, Christopher Konstantinidi, told reporters on Thursday.

"One of the strategic directions The agricultural tourism association's goal is to develop enogastronomic routes (routes for trips and excursions to wineries and vineyards). Wine routes are currently being developed, and they should be launched this year. Eighty routes are planned for launch in 2018," he said.

According to the ministry, these routes will include "wine roads" and agritours—tourist trips to rural areas.

Mr. Konstantinidi added that during preparations for the "Ancient Heritage of Russia" tourism festival, which took place in the region from June 1 to 12, the idea arose to create a large enogastronomic route through the Kuban region.

"The route will pass through the Temryuk district, Anapa, and Gelendzhik. Everyone can choose: take the long wine route or the shorter one," he noted.

The Krasnodar Region is one of Russia's leading grape and wine producers. The three largest wineries operating in the region are Fanagoria, Kuban-Vino (part of the Ariant holding), and Abrau-Durso. There are also numerous smaller wineries in the region.

The Krasnodar Krai is one of the main tourist regions of the Russian Federation. In 2017, approximately 16 million tourists visited Kuban, and the tourist flow is projected to reach 16.2 million in 2018. Agritourism (including wine routes) is one of the fastest-growing tourism trends in Kuban, reports vOtpusk.ru.
