The Pskov Museum-Reserve will close for reconstruction.

The Pskov Museum-Reserve will close in September for extensive restoration and reconstruction, which will last approximately two years. The Pogankin Chambers, the Van der Fleet building, and the Forge Yard will be closed to the public.

According to Interfax, several new museums will appear in Pskov after the reconstruction. For example, exhibits from the Antiquities Repository will be displayed on the first floor of the Big Bags in Postnikov's Yard, while treasures found in the Pskov Region will be on display on the second floor. In total, Postnikov's Yard will house more than 15 new exhibition spaces.

Following restoration, the Flat Tower and Varlaamovsky Corner will be open to visitors almost year-round. The Flat Tower will house an exhibition dedicated to Pskov architects, restorers, and researchers of the Pskov Kremlin.

According to Sergei Sarchenkov, director of the museum-reserve, the cultural institution's collection contains over 650,000 exhibits, but currently only about 101,000 artifacts are on display. The museum's expansion will allow visitors to see a large collection of archaeological finds that have never been on display before.
