The Egyptian president ordered the extension of the state of emergency for three months.

TASS: Egypt's parliament approved President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's decree on Sunday extending the state of emergency for three months, according to the Al-Watan news portal.

This decision was approved by almost all deputies. Egypt. The law will take effect nationwide on October 15 and will last for three months. According to the decree, the armed forces and the Ministry of Interior are authorized to "take necessary measures to counter the threat of terrorism, suppress its sources of financing, ensure security throughout the republic, protect public and private property, and the lives of citizens."

As a reminder, emergency measures were introduced in Egypt following the April terrorist attacks on churches in the Egyptian cities of Tanta and Alexandria. Suicide bombers detonated explosive devices during Palm Sunday services. These attacks claimed the lives of 45 people and injured more than 120. The terrorist group Islamic State (IS) (banned in Russia – editor's note) almost immediately claimed responsibility for the incidents.

Following the attacks, President al-Sisi, during his address to the nation, announced that he intended to introduce a state of emergency in the country, which could be extended every three months.
