Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets reported that 7.7 million tourists could visit Russian resorts during the New Year holidays.

The topic of developing tourism in the Russian Federation was raised at a meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, RIA Novosti reports.
"During "We expect the number of tourists at Russian resorts to exceed 7.7 million during the school holidays. This is a historic record, but we are already prepared for it," Olga Golodets noted.
She estimates that over 350,000 tourists will visit Sochi during the winter holidays, and over 120,000 travelers will head to the resorts of Karachay-Cherkessia. Olga Golodets notes that the most popular New Year's holiday destinations will likely be the Kemerovo, Leningrad, Murmansk, and Sakhalin regions, among others.
