Flights between Moscow and Ethiopia have been resumed

Ethiopian Airlines resumed service between Moscow and Moscow on December 18 after a 27-year hiatus. Service had been interrupted since the collapse of the Soviet Union, when relations between Russia and Ethiopia deteriorated significantly, according to the Daily Monitor Uganda.

It's worth noting that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Ethiopia last March. During his visit, both sides discussed cooperation in various areas, according to the REGNUM news agency.

"Moscow is a vital addition to our European service, a very important region. With this new flight, our total number of passenger flights to Europe will reach 54 per week," said Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde Gebremariam as the inaugural flight to Moscow departed Addis Ababa.

"I am pleased that Ethiopian Airlines has made the bold decision to resume these flights, as this will not only ensure passenger flow but also connect Russians with Ethiopian Airlines' global service network," said Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia Vsevolod Tkachenko.

According to REGNUM news agency, airliners from Ethiopia to Russia will fly three times a week.
