TravelSkills: Russia's first industry-wide tourism championship will be held in March.

Just over a month remains until the first industry championship in the tourism sector, TravelSkills: in March, more than 400 participants will gather at one venue, representing the present and future of Russia's tourism industry.

As WorldSkills certified expert Anna notes Gurincuk said the championship will not only allow for competition between industry representatives but also integrate the younger generation, students from vocational schools and universities, into the realities of the tourism industry. "After all, it's only right when education goes hand in hand with business, fully meeting the needs and demands of the industry. Only through joint efforts will we be able to place the future of our industry in the capable hands of the younger generation," she told TRN, adding that the championship gives everyone the opportunity to prove themselves, test their skills and abilities, and assess their competence in their field.

The TravelSkills Championship will cover three competencies: travel agency, tour operator, and transportation booking.

In order to prepare tasks for the participants, representatives of leading travel agencies and travel associations (MGP, TBG and "Hot Tours", Belmare, CamFly, Madison Travel, ATA, ATOR and RST), as well as representatives of tour operator companies (ANEX Tour, Ambotis, Vedi Tourgroup, Summer tour, ICS Travel Group, Mouzenidis Travel, Pantheon, Academservice, ERV) and transport service booking systems (TKP, Sirena, Amadeus, Iwaу, Aviacent, My Agent, Sabre, UFS, Vipservice) held a series of meetings on each of the competencies.

The main objective of the meetings was to identify weaknesses and challenges in the existing industry and find solutions. "Following the meetings, competition tasks were developed for all three competencies, as well as specific cases for representatives of the industry and educational institutions to compete on. All tasks fully reflect the realities of the tourism industry and are as close to reality as possible," emphasizes Anna Gurincuk.

"If you consider yourself a professional in your field, want to assess your own qualifications, and see how well your colleagues are prepared, don't miss the first TravelSkills industry championship! Become the best of the best! Get the opportunity to pass on your unique experience to the next generation and shape the future of our industry! It's all in our hands!" the expert concluded.

WorldSkills is an international non-profit movement whose goal is to raise the status and standards of vocational training and qualifications worldwide, as well as to promote skilled trades through international competitions. It currently includes 79 member countries. Russia joined the international WorldSkills movement in 2012.

The championship program consists of two days and includes the opening and closing ceremonies, the competition portion, an awards ceremony, and a gala dinner.

The most important practical goal of the TravelSkills project is to modernize the human resources system in the tourism sector.
