Due to the introduction of the baggage-free fare, the airline has decided to cancel its cheapest Economy Budget fare tickets with baggage. Prior to the cancellation, these tickets were priced 12–30% cheaper than other fares that included baggage.
From April 2, simultaneously with the introduction Aeroflot is canceling its cheapest "Economy Budget" fares, which include baggage allowances on some routes. This was reported by RBC, citing a letter from Aeroflot's sales department sent to travel agencies.
"Passengers who previously booked tickets for these routes and wish to purchase them at the Budget fare group must complete their ticket purchases within the timeframes established by the fare rules, but no later than April 1, 2019," the letter states.
Furthermore, the company noted that, thanks to a statistical study, they discovered that the majority of passengers using the "Economy Budget" fare fly without baggage.
As a reminder, the carrier previously announced that baggage-free fares would be introduced on certain routes served by Rossiya Airlines and Aeroflot, effective April 2. The airline noted that this fare would reduce prices for economy class tickets.
