Russian tourists shared their biggest fears while on vacation. It turned out that men are almost twice as likely as women to fear spending all their money on vacation (16%). Women, unlike men, are afraid of becoming a victim of sexual harassment (11%). Such The findings are contained in a new study by the online hotel booking service Ostrovok.ru, prepared based on a survey of more than 2,500 Russian tourists.

Tourists of both sexes cited losing their documents as their greatest fear, a view shared by 431 of those surveyed. The second most frequently chosen response was the fear of ending up in a hospital in another city, with 251 of those surveyed citing this as one of the most frightening, with women more likely to find it stressful than men (281 versus 201, respectively).
Another 24% respondents admitted that they were afraid of ending up in police custody or jail in an unfamiliar place – with men choosing this answer slightly more often than women (26% and 23%, respectively).
It's worth noting that the possibility of getting into a difficult situation due to not knowing a foreign language is as terrifying for tourists as the possibility of becoming a victim of robbery—17% of respondents admitted to being afraid of such situations while on vacation.
Among male respondents, fears related to the possibility of food poisoning from local food and the likelihood of becoming a victim of robbery were somewhat more common (13% and 18%, respectively).
Only 10% of the tourists surveyed admitted to being afraid of being left without communication while on vacation. The least distressing experience for tourists comes from losing their hotel or apartment keys—only 3% of the respondents chose this option.
