Air tickets for May are still cheaper than a year ago

Analysts at the online travel agency Kupibilet have named the top 10 international and Russian destinations chosen by independent travelers for spring vacations. To do this, they studied ticket sales statistics for the period from May 1st to 12th and estimated the average Ticket prices by destination. For each city, we compared prices with those in 2018 (back then, the total vacation time was five days—almost half as long).

The top 10 international cities included Tbilisi, Istanbul, Chisinau, Prague, Rome, Paris, Baku, Riga, Tashkent, and Yerevan. The most popular domestic destinations were Sochi, Moscow, Kaliningrad, Simferopol, Mineralnye Vody, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Makhachkala, Samara, and Krasnodar.

As of March 15, the average roundtrip ticket price for all destinations is 7% lower than a year ago. Most bookings for the May holidays traditionally occur two to three weeks before departure, so the situation could change dramatically. Kupibilet analysts recommend not delaying travel planning and taking advantage of the opportunity while tickets are still relatively affordable.

Among foreign destinations, there is an increase in the average cost of purchased tickets compared to last year: to Tbilisi (from 11,381 rubles to 16,372 rubles); Istanbul (from 12,281 rubles to 22,443 rubles); Chisinau (from 10,807 rubles to 14,984); Prague (from 13,574 rubles to 22,941 rubles); Rome (from 8,118 rubles to 25,890 rubles); Paris (from 14,373 rubles to 22,970 rubles); Baku (from 9,408 rubles to 15,748 rubles); Riga (from 10,125 rubles to 12,278 rubles); Tashkent (from 13,398 rubles to 17,519 rubles) and Yerevan (from 13,137 to 13,359 rubles).

Among Russian destinations, the following change in the average cost of purchased tickets was observed: to Sochi (from 6764 rubles to 9212 rubles), Moscow (from 5007 rubles to 5871 rubles), Kaliningrad (from 8171 rubles to 7435 rubles), Simferopol (from 8778 rubles to 10255 rubles), Mineralnye Vody (from 8498 rubles to 7362 rubles), St. Petersburg (from 7606 rubles to 8768 rubles), Kazan (from 3899 rubles to 5511 rubles), Makhachkala (from 4477 rubles to 5892 rubles), Samara (from 5968 rubles to 5744 rubles) and Krasnodar (from 7382 rubles to 6507 rubles).
