Research: What do Russian travelers dislike about other tourists?

When asked the question "What qualities and actions make you feel negatively about a tourist or group of tourists?" to Russian travelers, the top answer was "Rudeness in communication with staff or locals" (20%). 14% noted "A tendency to start a row over any reason" and 13% — "Inattention to local traditions and customs." These data were obtained in a survey conducted by the online travel service Biletix, which included 1,508 participants.

As the company's press service told the TRN portal, respondents believe that Russians themselves most often sin during vacation by abusing alcohol (20% responses), failing to be friendly and smile at others (13%), and failing to pay attention to local traditions (12%).

Only 19% of the Russian travelers surveyed admitted to being "bad tourists" during their travels. 64% noted that they never did anything that would have led to criticism.

53% respondents said there can be no excuse for inappropriate behavior by tourists. 15% are willing to overlook annoying behavior if tourists have children, 13% are willing to overlook it if tourists are celebrating a national holiday, and 10% respondents say a personal or family celebration is acceptable justification for "bad behavior."
