From January 1, 2020, tourists in Amsterdam will be required to pay an additional €3 for each night of their stay.

The tax was introduced as an addition to the existing rate of 7% of the cost of accommodation. Moreover, those tourists who choose to book through Airbnb will now will be forced to pay more - 10% per night.
Amsterdam has a population of 1.1 million and welcomes 17 million tourists annually. "To control the situation, we need to act. Rather than promoting this destination, it's time to focus on its management," states one official document.
