Travel to Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport via public transport will be significantly impacted over the next two weekends. On December 16-17 and 23-24, the Rechnoy Vokzal, Vodny Stadion, and Voykovskaya metro stations will be closed, according to a Travel.ru correspondent.
This is due to work on connecting the future new section of the Zamoskoretskaya Line to Khovrino station. Numerous shuttle buses will be launched from Rechnoy Vokzal to Sokol station on December 16-17 and 23-24 to replace the inoperative section.
Therefore, on December 16-17 and 23-24, the traditional route to Sheremetyevo from Rechnoy Vokzal station will require an extra transfer for most passengers, significantly increasing travel time. You can speed up the journey by taking express bus 905, which runs from Belorussky Station to the Moscow Ring Road from approximately 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. When traveling toward Sheremetyevo, it's best to transfer from bus 905 to bus 851 or minibus 949 at the Belomorskaya Street stop; when traveling from the airport, transfer at the Kanal Imeni Moskvy stop. The most convenient way to transfer from bus 905 to the metro is at Sokol, and from the metro to bus 905 is at Dynamo or Aeroport.
Passengers can also consider alternative ways to travel to the airport during these days, such as from the Planernaya metro station and from Khimki station.
Neither the opening date of the Khovrino metro station nor the transportation plan after it remains unknown. Specifically, the launch of express buses along the M-11 toll road from Khovrino to Sheremetyevo Airport is a plausible option. This would allow travelers to get from the metro to the airport in 15 minutes, avoiding traffic jams. However, no information regarding such a route has been released yet.
