Aeroflot has introduced online changes to Aeroflot Bonus award tickets, as well as online upgrades for standard tickets. This feature is only available for tickets purchased through the company's website, according to Travel.ru.
Both options are available through booking management on the Aeroflot website. New buttons have been added before the flight details in the booking. For award tickets, this button is "Exchange Ticket," which takes passengers to a form where they can specify their desired new flight details.
It's worth keeping in mind that the service is still somewhat selective. For example, if you specify St. Petersburg to Krasnodar as a new route in your request, only direct flight options will be offered, while connecting flights via Moscow will be ignored—even if they are readily available when booking a new award ticket. Ultimately, you'll still have to call the call center or visit the company's office to arrange connecting flights.
Furthermore, it is not possible to change an award ticket online that has already been changed, a booking that includes a child under two years old, a ticket for which travel has already commenced, online check-in has been completed, or a no-show has occurred (for all of these, you will also need to contact company staff). Online itinerary adjustments are only possible within the original award zone and only on Aeroflot Group flights.
The cost of changes remains the same: free for changes to the date and flight at least one month before the original departure (35 euros for changes from 30 to 7 days before departure, 50 euros for changes thereafter). Any route changes cost 50 euros plus any additional fees that may be higher on the new route. As a reminder, a recent series of fee increases has led to a significant increase in the price of Aeroflot Bonus award tickets—now, in addition to miles, you also have to pay a significant cash premium for them.
For regular paid bookings, the Aeroflot website now displays the following buttons: "Exchange and refund a ticket" (previously available only in a separate form, and not all passengers found it), "Upgrade with miles," "Upgrade with a voucher," and "Book an upgrade." The latter applies to the upgrade service at the airport—it's a pre-order, and its actual availability will only be determined upon check-in at the airport. If the upgrade is not possible, the passenger will be refunded the miles or money spent on the order.
The "Upgrade with a Voucher" option is available to Aeroflot Bonus Platinum members. Gold members can access it after earning 75,000 and 100,000 qualifying miles each calendar year (for each milestone, they receive one free upgrade voucher).
All these buttons are displayed for all standard bookings on the Aeroflot website. However, for passengers whose tickets do not allow these services, the buttons are disabled.
