The MAKS air show, currently underway in Zhukovsky, near Moscow, has led to significant travel restrictions to Zhukovsky Airport, which is located on the same airfield. Passengers planning to use this airport from August 27 to September 1 should allow significantly more time for travel to and from the airport, reports Travel.ru's own correspondent.
Public transportation, as promised by the airport, will operate as usual. However, in practice, travel times for all buses are likely to increase sharply due to the heavy traffic congestion in the Zhukovsky area and the presence of numerous temporary checkpoints. Furthermore, additional temporary road closures are possible due to various official travelers attending the air show during its first days. It's also worth considering that commuter trains from Moscow to the Otdykh platform, from where shuttles depart for the airport, may be overcrowded in the morning, while in the afternoon, the rush will be on the return journey to the city.
Drivers and taxi drivers should also avoid using regular roads to the airport from the city of Zhukovsky. According to the airport's published map, these roads will be largely inaccessible, requiring a lengthy detour.
