From June 1, AZUR air will cancel the provision of meals on flights lasting less than 5 hours. As explained to the TRN portal in press service carrier, passengers will be offered hot drinks and water on these flights. At the same time, passengers business class On flights up to 5 hours in flight, the food service will be provided in full.
"This decision was made based on the air transportation market situation, which is affected by several factors. Among them is a significant increase in the cost of aviation fuel - at least 30% in 2018. The second important factor is the growth of airport fees due to the implementation of large-scale investment programs by airport operators aimed at reconstructing terminals, improving airport infrastructure and improving the quality of passenger service," the airline explained.
At the same time, the carrier's press service emphasized that since AZUR air sees its mission as providing tourists with not only safe, but also budget flights to world resorts, a significant increase in transportation prices is unacceptable. "Reducing meals on short flights in economy class will at least keep the cost of the service at the same level, and, given favorable macroeconomic factors, will lead to a decrease in the cost of transportation," the airline reported.
It should be noted that when departing from St. Petersburg, the airline offers the service of additional food ordering "Restaurant on board", which is relatively new in the category of services provided by Russian airlines. A similar service for departures from the base airport Vnukovo is currently under development, and its implementation is planned for the current summer season.
In turn, the airline leaves the provision of standard meals on flights lasting more than 5 hours unchanged.
