Azur Air will expand its fleet.

AZUR Air, whose operator's certificate was suspended by Rosaviatsiya due to claims regarding the continued airworthiness of its aircraft, plans to increase its traffic and fleet in 2018, Interfax-Tourism reports.

“We introduced five last year “We have four Boeing 737s and one Boeing 757, and our plans for this year are not to decrease but to increase the volumes (of transportation, IF) in connection with the commissioning of the new fleet,” said the airline’s CEO, Mikhail Kritsky, at the NAIS-2018 aviation exhibition.

AZUR Air's press service told Interfax that the company plans to receive two aircraft—a Boeing 737 and a Boeing 767—for the 2018 spring/summer season. Plans also include adding a new type to the fleet this year: the Boeing 777.

As reported last week, Rosaviatsia (the Federal Air Transport Agency) extended the validity of AZUR Air's air operator certificate until March 20. The decision followed an inspection conducted by Rosaviatsia in December 2017, which revealed "inconsistencies and deficiencies in the air carrier's operations related to maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft and flight operations," the agency reported.

On Wednesday, Rosaviatsiya head Alexander Neradko announced that AZUR Air intends to apply for the lifting of restrictions as early as next week. On Thursday, Mikhail Kritsky confirmed that the documents would be submitted soon.
