Yuri Barzykin, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, notes that this year, the flow of tourists from Russia to Hainan has increased by almost a third thanks to the abolition of visas.
“Any visa relaxations will result in growth of 10 to 30 percent,” he said.
To Hainan A visa-free tourism policy has been introduced for citizens of 59 countries. Tourists can stay in the country without a visa for up to 30 days. For tourists from Russia, the visa regime was lifted in May of this year, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Barzykin, Hainan is a very promising and popular destination, as the province is famous for more than just its beach resorts. Hainan also boasts culinary tourism, culture, and numerous attractions.
The Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST) vice president also notes that 280,000 Russian tourists vacationed on Hainan Island last year. Most trips occur during the winter season.
