The State Duma adopted in the third and final reading amendments to the Federal Law “On the procedure for leaving the Russian Federation and entering the Russian Federation”, which establish the possibility of temporarily restricting the rights to leave the country for former employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia.

"A travel restriction may be imposed for up to five years from the date of discharge from military service with the Federal Security Service. The procedure for making travel restrictions will be established by the FSB," the agency's press service reported.
Currently, the right to travel abroad for employees of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) may be restricted during their military service, and after leaving service in the state security agencies, travel may be restricted only if they were privy to information of particular importance or top secret information.
Furthermore, Vasily Piskarev, Chairman of the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, noted that the need to adopt the law was prompted by "increasing instances of openly hostile actions and provocations by a number of foreign states against Russia and our citizens abroad."
