Travel service OneTwoTrip has compiled a ranking of Russian and international cities where Russian travelers most frequently fly on weekends. To do this, the service's analysts studied airline ticket purchases since the beginning of the year, considering only those offering flights. Friday afternoon or evening and returning Sunday evening or Monday morning.

Within Russia, travelers most often fly to Moscow for weekends. St. Petersburg ranks second. Russians also frequently fly to Sochi, Simferopol, and Kaliningrad for weekends. Amsterdam ranked first among international cities.
Paris came next. Prague, Tbilisi, and Minsk rounded out the top five international destinations.
"Weekend tickets departing on Friday and returning on Sunday are, on average, 20% more expensive than two- or three-day trips on other days of the week. Despite this, and the overall increase in airfare prices for both domestic and international destinations, we see no decline in interest in weekend trips compared to last year. The ranking of the most popular international weekend destinations is naturally topped by major cultural centers, with flight times from Moscow no more than three to four hours away. Weekend trips to these centers are quite comfortable, and Saturday and Sunday are sufficient time to see the main attractions or visit favorite places, even if you're not visiting for the first time." Leonid Ryaboshtan, head of the OneTwoTrip air service, comments on the topic.
