Foreign Ministry warns tourists about increase in listeriosis cases in Spain

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned tourists about the rising incidence of listeriosis in Spain.

 

 

"Spain: Listeriosis cases on the rise; the highest number of cases recorded in the Andalusia region," reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Situation and Crisis Center (DSCC). RF on Twitter.

As a reminder, Rospotrebnadzor previously warned Russian tourists about a listeriosis outbreak in Spain and recommended taking this into account when planning their trips.

Listeriosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria of the genus Listeria. Listeria infects the central nervous system (CNS) and can cause meningitis and encephalitis. Furthermore, the disease is highly fatal. Certain groups of people are particularly susceptible to the disease, including pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.
