Peskov: Restrictions on flights to Georgia are a temporary measure

The Russian President's press secretary stated that the restrictions imposed by Russia on air travel to Georgia are temporary and may be lifted.

“From the published documents, you saw that there is no clear deadline there. We are talking about "About the return of the situation in Georgia to a non-Russophobic course. As soon as this is confirmed, it will be a reason to consider reconsidering the decision," Dmitry Peskov said, according to Interfax.

He also noted that the situation is likely to worsen. "This is none of our business; it's Georgia's internal affair. It's our business when it takes on an anti-Russian character. That's what worries us," the Russian President's press secretary added.

As a reminder, on June 21, 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the Decree "On Certain Measures to Ensure the National Security of the Russian Federation and Protect Citizens of the Russian Federation from Criminal and Other Illegal Actions," which prohibited Russian airlines from flying from Russia to Georgia. The restriction was later extended to Georgian carriers as well. Tour operators and travel agencies were advised to refrain from selling tours to Georgia.
