Wildfires are raging in Portugal and Spain. Last Sunday, 443 wildfires were reported in Portugal. Authorities declared a state of emergency. Around 105 fires were reported in Galicia, Spain.
According to the BBC, in At least 31 people have died in Portugal and three more in Spain as a result of forest fires. Tour operator BSI GROUP shared information with TRN from its partners in these countries.
"As for Spain, the fires primarily affected provinces that aren't very popular with Russian tourists—Galicia, Asturias, and Castilla de León. In Portugal, rain has begun, and the situation is improving. The fires only affected forested areas with small villages nearby. On Sunday and Monday, all BSI GROUP excursions followed safe routes," says Svetlana Izyumova, specialist at the tour operator BSI GROUP in St. Petersburg.
