Rospotrebnadzor warned of salmonella in Sweden.

Since the beginning of January this year, Sweden's veterinary service has registered more than 1,000 cats infected with salmonellosis in the country, according to Rospotrebnadzor. Ten preschool-aged children have been infected as a result of contact with sick animals. salmonellosis in 6 counties of the country.

Authorities are warning about the need to maintain personal hygiene when in contact with birds and cats, as well as to pay increased attention to the health of pets.

According to epidemiological surveillance data, approximately 3,000 cases of salmonellosis in humans were registered annually in Sweden from 2007 to 2016. Until 1999, salmonellosis in pets was considered rare in Sweden. However, the number of sick animals in the country has been gradually increasing, especially from January to April.
