
Aeroflot Airlines announced a disruption to the core services of its Aeroflot Bonus loyalty program for several days this week. The carrier attributed the disruption to a technical update to the program's platform, according to a Travel.ru correspondent.
Within 14 hours from 22.From Tuesday, May 21st, until 12:00 PM, Wednesday, May 22nd, program member personal account services will be unavailable. Miles cannot be accrued or used. Additionally, mileage accrual will not be available for two and a half days, from 10:00 PM, Tuesday, May 21st, until 10:00 AM, Friday, May 24th. Miles accrued during this period will be credited to member accounts later, after the work is completed.
Passengers who may require any of these services during the downtime are advised to complete their required operations before 10:00 PM on Tuesday, May 21, if possible. Aeroflot has not announced whether the platform update will result in any program changes for participants.
As a reminder, the benefits of Aeroflot Bonus for members have drastically diminished over the past year due to constant increases in so-called "fuel surcharges." Now, almost any award ticket under the program requires, in addition to a substantial number of miles, a hefty fee—making such tickets to many destinations simply pointless.
