On Friday, April 5, federal news agencies, citing the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Moscow Canal," reported that the section of the Moscow Canal, drained after the Tushino Tunnel in the capital flooded in January, would not be reopened in time for the start of river freight navigation on April 24. Moreover, As cruise line representatives explained to TRN, there was confusion in the media—these restrictions apply exclusively to cargo ships and do not apply to cruise ships.

According to Kommersant, citing its sources, navigation on the section of the Moscow Canal between the 7th and 8th locks will not open on April 24, along with the start of navigation in Moscow and the Moscow region, due to the accident in the Tushino Tunnel that occurred on January 10. The publication notes that the planned opening date is June 1.
However, as explained to the TRN portal Andrey Mikhailovsky, General Director of the Infoflot Cruise Center, this situation does not apply to the navigation of cruise ships.
"The information reported in the federal media concerns only the cargo fleet and will not affect cruise navigation in any way. Navigation will reopen as planned on April 30. Cruise ships will depart from the Northern River Terminal as scheduled. As per tradition, the first holiday cruises will depart from Moscow to Myshkin, Uglich, Tver, and Yaroslavl," he emphasized.
