Information security in hotels was discussed in Kazan.

The practical conference "Security and Information Protection," organized by the Association of Hotels of Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan, concluded yesterday at the Nogai Hotel in Kazan. TOThe conference was held atwith the support of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Tourism.

Hotel managers, IT specialists, and security officers from hotels and other accommodation providers, along with industry experts and government officials, discussed important and contentious issues related to information security, as well as the principles of organizing and building a cybersecurity system.

During a roundtable discussion, representatives from the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan, the State Tourism Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Kazan Hotel Association discussed the protection of personal data of fans during the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the necessary security measures.

Tatyana Rupasova, a leading expert specialist in the Department for the Protection of the Rights of Personal Data Subjects and Supervision of Information Technology at the Office of Roskomnadzor for the Republic of Tatarstan, presented an overview of changes in legislation establishing administrative liability in the area of personal data, and also spoke about the specifics of implementing the requirements of the Federal Law "On Personal Data" for operators collecting personal data using the Internet.

Alexander Palchikov, Head of New Corporate Services Development at MegaFon, spoke to hoteliers about digital data protection technologies, business development, and Wi-Fi user data protection. Specialists from the Volga-Vyatka Main Administration of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation's National Bank for the Republic of Tatarstan Branch Liliya Shaikhutdinova and Elmira Islamova They shared an overview of modern payment systems, explained what to look for when paying with cards, and how to distinguish genuine banknotes from counterfeit ones.

Alexander Leferov, Head of Hotel Solutions at Hospitality&Retailsystems, presented the capabilities of modern hotel software for tracking, storing, and processing guest personal data. Alexander discussed how to properly store data in software and how to delete personal data in accordance with new legislation, if necessary.

Conference speakers noted that information security in hotels is just as critical as in any other modern business. The functioning of any accommodation facility depends on a well-designed and reliable data security system, just like a bank. Any accommodation facility is responsible for the safety of its clients' data, the loss of which will lead to a bad reputation. Reducing risks and enhancing information security is only possible with a comprehensive approach. Information security must be approached with the same seriousness and responsibility as other security issues, and in the context of rapidly evolving technologies, even more so.
