An aquarium with robotic fish has opened in Moscow.

Russia's first aquarium featuring robotic fish has been installed in Pavilion No. 2 at VDNKh. Five silver-scaled robotic breams reach 50 centimeters in length, which is the same size as an adult bream.

The robotic fish are made of sealed, waterproof plastic, according to the Moscow City Hall website. Special sensors allow them to easily detect and navigate obstacles (such as algae and rocks) and avoid collisions with other aquarium mates. Furthermore, the robots can be connected to underwater cameras. The mechanical fish can swim for 12 hours without recharging and dive to depths of up to five meters.

The artificial fish live in habitats that are as close to natural as possible. The bottom of the giant, three-thousand-liter aquarium is covered with river pebbles. Algae will be planted in the aquarium soon.

Visitors to Pavilion No. 2, "RoboStation," will learn about the history of robotic fish and the areas in which such technologies might be in demand.

Also at the "RoboStation" you can see a robot pancake maker, a robot goalkeeper with whom you can play football, and a robot named Baxter, who predicts the results of sports competitions.
