During the winter season, the ski resorts of Kuban will host about a million tourists, reports Ministry of Resorts and Tourism and the Olympic legacy of the Krasnodar Territory.
Over two thousand accommodation facilities in Sochi are ready to welcome guests during the winter season. With a total capacity of approximately 80,000 rooms, the mountain cluster will feature 57 cable cars and 120 trails with a total length of over 148 km. The cable cars will carry approximately 28,000 people per hour.
"901,000,000 rooms have already been booked in the mountain cluster. The ski resorts expect at least a million vacationers this winter," emphasized Veniamin Kondratyev, the region's governor.
At the direction of the regional governor, an emergency response center will be established in the Olympic capital during the New Year holidays. It will include representatives of the executive branch, the municipal government, and law enforcement agencies. It will be headed by First Vice Governor Andrei Alekseenko.
Veniamin Kondratyev has placed Sochi's transportation infrastructure under special scrutiny. Following last year's example, the city administration, in conjunction with the police, will organize park-and-ride facilities by December 15. Information boards regarding restrictions on entry to Krasnaya Polyana for private vehicles, as well as information on available parking spaces, will be posted in the lower cluster.
According to the resort's head, Anatoly Pakhomov, this work will help avoid traffic congestion. Furthermore, public transportation within the resort is expected to increase during the New Year holidays.
Veniamin Kondratyev also instructed the regional Department of Consumer Affairs and Alcohol Market Regulation to monitor food prices in the mountain cluster, preventing their artificial inflated status.
