French railways have decided to try an unusual way to combat chronic train delays in the capital region. They painted teeth on train doors to discourage last-minute rushes, BFMTV reports.
It's hoped that late passengers will feel less psychologically uncomfortable about jumping into a closing trap, and the number of train delays will decrease. Currently, an average of 20% commuter and regional trains in the Paris region are delayed to some degree.
The toothed train, which will apparently serve as a testbed for this new "technology" for combating schedule disruptions, will operate on the RER E suburban line. The total number of such trains is unknown.
It's worth noting that teeth on the doors would be much more appropriate on some older Russian metro train models. Unlike French trains with their smooth-closing doors, the doors on older Russian-made metro cars actually slam shut like the jaws of a predator.
