Arkhangelsk will celebrate the Snowman's birthday with a large Arctic fair and a festive show featuring the popular winter character, according to the Solombola-Art portal.
The beginning of the calendar winter in Arkhangelsk will coincide with a major holiday dedicated to the day The Snowman's Birthday. On this day, the interactive park "There, on the Arctic Paths" will open at the Solombala-Art Cultural Center. Visitors will be invited to participate in winter activities and test their strength, endurance, and wits, as well as learn more about Arctic life. New Year's attractions will also be available.
The festive program will also feature the theatrical performance "Arctic Fairytale," during which the Arkhangelsk Snowman, wearing felt boots, will embark on a journey across the Arctic. The audience, along with the show's main characters, will first be transported to Greenland and then to Franz Josef Land. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a large Arctic fair. The performance concludes with the Snowman traveling to Wrangel Island, where polar bears will perform a circus act. The celebration will conclude with the lighting of the New Year's tree and a spectacular fireworks display.
The festive event will take place in the park area of the Solombala-Art cultural center. Guests are welcome at 4:00 PM. Admission is free.
It's worth noting that the rest of the world celebrates the Snowman's birthday on January 9th. Hundreds of festivals honoring the fairytale snowman take place annually on this day. For example, Latvia hosts the Snowman Gathering. During the event, a Snowman Parade takes place on the streets of Dobele, featuring snowman musicians, snowman skiers, and dozens of other characters.
