The most beautiful European cities are in Ireland, Albania and Italy. This is the conclusion reached by experts from the travel company JATA, writes The Telegraph.
Experts have named the 30 most beautiful cities in Europe. The city of Kilkenny in the southeast of Ireland topped the list. Its main attractions are Kilkenny Castle and St. Canes Cathedral.
Another European beauty is the southern Albanian city of Berat on the banks of the Osum River. In medieval times, it was a border settlement of the Byzantine Empire, as evidenced by the local ancient fortress. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Rounding out the top three most beautiful cities in Europe is Civita di Bagnoregio in Italy. This city, located near Rome, is often called dead. It has a permanent population of 10 people. However, Civita di Bagnoregio is visited by up to 600,000 tourists every year. For visitors to the city, there are several hotels, pizzerias and trattorias, as well as beautiful medieval streets and an excellent view of the nearby hills.
Another Italian city, Corricella, continues the top 30. It is considered the most beautiful place on the volcanic island of Procida in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Anyone who intends to visit this city is advised to watch the boats sailing in the harbor, drink an Aperol Spritz cocktail in one of the bars on the waterfront and taste spaghetti with sea urchins. In fifth place according to JATA is the only British representative of the list – the city of Conwy in Wales. The tourists’ gaze is drawn here by the incredible castle, the gallery of the Royal Cambrian Academy of Arts, one of the best-preserved townhouses in Great Britain from the time of Elizabeth I and the oldest medieval trading house built in 1300.
Among the cities that will delight any traveler with their beauty are: the Austrian ski resort of Lech, the city of Hindeloopen in the north of the Netherlands, the tourist village of Lefkara in the south of Cyprus, the Croatian Rovinj, which can compete with Dubrovnik in beauty, and the town of Soglio in the Swiss Alps.
