Its reputation as a health resort dates back to the city's first sanatorium, called the "Caucasian Riviera," which was built in 1909. "Even the air in Sochi is therapeutic," people say, and for good reason, as it's a spherical lake. The year is filled with sea minerals, mountain freshness and warmed by the warm southern sun.

Health walks

In winter, simple walks in Sochi can provide significant health benefits. It's hard to believe, especially for those living in large cities where the atmosphere is saturated with exhaust fumes, but Sochi boasts numerous scenic walking routes with pristine air.

For example, this is a terrain cure that begins near the Matsesta monument and is approximately 5 kilometers long. The terrain cure is a path with slight descents and ascents that don't sway your heart rate, making it suitable for people of all fitness levels and levels.

The path runs along the sea and winds between trees that are green even in winter, a complete list of which would take more than one page: palm trees, cherry laurels, beech trees, magnolias, chestnut trees and many others, swaying their leaves to the accompaniment of the wonderful singing of birds.

Another route is located in Krasnaya Polyana, part of the Rosa Khutor resort. The health trail has three loops: small (15 minutes), medium (1 hour), and large (1.5 hours). The small loop is the easiest, with a slight elevation gain. The medium and large loops require a slight climb, but you'll be surrounded by the incredible beauty of the mountains, waterfalls, springs, and observation decks.

A new park recently opened in Sochi in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Krasnodar Territory, and the Arboretum, Riviera, and many other picturesque parks and places for pleasant strolls continue to operate.

At first glance, it may seem like just a walk, but it has enormous benefits for the cardiovascular and nervous systems, as well as the respiratory system, and also helps speed up metabolism.

Sport

Sochi is a paradise for active recreation and sports. The weather allows for outdoor workouts, seaside exercises, and cycling along the river embankment year-round, even in winter.

Sochi has free exercise equipment on the beaches, several stadiums for football and running, and a dozen parks with sports grounds.

Sports grounds open to everyone can be found, for example, on Konstitutsii SSSR Street along the Sochi River embankment, on Riviera Beach, near the sports school on Parkovaya Street, in Frunze Park, and even while simply strolling around the city.

Another excellent activity is Nordic walking, which can include, for example, a walk from home to the sea and back, and is perfect for people without physical fitness.

Balneotherapy

For those who travel to Sochi in winter to improve their health, the most valuable attractions are the hydromineral springs and hydrogen sulfide deposits. The most famous is Matsesta, a rich hydrogen sulfide spring whose mud and waters have a therapeutic effect on a wide range of ailments:

diseases of the nervous system

diseases of the circulatory system

gynecological diseases

diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue

respiratory diseases

diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue

eye diseases

diseases of the digestive system

diseases of the endocrine organs

metabolic disorders

diseases of the urinary system

occupational diseases and deformities

Healing water

Sochi is home to a large number of mineral springs. They can be roughly divided into two types: drinking and balneological.

The most famous balneological waters are extracted from the Matsesta springs. This water is also called "fire water" because after prolonged exposure, the skin may become red and a burning sensation is often felt. However, short baths provide tremendous benefits to the body due to the water's content of hydrogen sulfide, bromine, iodine, fluorine, and colloidal sulfur. The optimal combination of these elements has a general healing effect and alleviates the symptoms of chronic diseases.

Drinking water extracted in Sochi contains bicarbonate and sodium-calcium elements. This water can be found in stores and pump rooms located near the Winter Theater, in Riviera Park, in the resort town of Adler, and in Matsesta.

Sochi water invigorates, removes toxins, has an excellent preventative effect against tooth decay, and accelerates recovery from diseases of the digestive and metabolic organs.

Sochi offers not only therapeutic but also restorative and rehabilitation programs. It's worth visiting at least once a year for those who rarely see the sun, are often stressed, work in difficult conditions, or are professional athletes. Excellent specialists, cutting-edge medical technology, a mild climate, gentle sun, and a warm sea will revitalize you, filling you with strength and energy for new achievements. And in winter, this trip becomes especially valuable: the mild subtropical winter seems infinitely warm compared to the rest of Russia.
