Two American aircraft manufacturers are planning to create a passenger jet that will allow flights from Moscow to Vladivostok in 3.5 hours, according to the Washington newspaper.<\/p>\n

Leaders in innovative aviation technology, Lockheed Martin and Aerion, have agreed to jointly develop the first The Aerion AS2 supersonic jet is the world's fastest aircraft. This business jet will reach speeds of up to 1,700 km\/h and carry up to 12 passengers. Its developers expect the AS2 to enable long-distance travel in the shortest possible time. For example, a flight from Moscow to Vladivostok will take just 3.5 hours. Currently, this journey takes over 8 hours by air. Once operational, the supersonic jet will also enable round-trip transatlantic flights to be completed in a single day. Furthermore, one of the developers' goals is to achieve low noise levels during aircraft travel. Aerion estimates that the AS2's first flight is scheduled for 2023.<\/p>\n

Lockheed Martin is known for its supersonic combat aircraft, the F-16, F-35, and F-22. Aerion engineers boast the development of a specialized wing for supersonic aircraft.<\/p>\n

In November, representatives of the Russian company Tupolev also announced their readiness to create a supersonic aircraft with a range of several thousand kilometers and a capacity of 20-25 passengers. Such an aircraft, according to the design bureau's deputy general director, Valery Solozobov, will run on liquid hydrogen. The only requirement for the design process is a customer willing to invest in such a costly project.<\/p>\n
