Its standards are very high, taking into account the city's level of cultural and historical development, as well as the availability of the necessary infrastructure and material and technical resources.

"This is a very serious competition, one we prepared for at length, and we deservedly won. I truly consider our city the New Year's capital. We have white snow, which other regions practically never see, and we have truly frosty winters. And we have the 'Yellow Residence,'" notes Konstantin Penchukov, Chairman of the Khanty-Mansiysk Duma.

In accordance with its status, the government of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug of Yugra, together with the administration of the regional capital, took the matter seriously. 100 million rubles have been invested in the project, and over 20,000 people are participating in the organization and implementation of 80 festive events at 14 themed venues.

The city's appearance is crucial to creating a festive atmosphere: the main streets and neighborhood courtyards are decorated with 100 Christmas trees. To add a touch of national flavor to the holiday, 13 tents have been erected throughout the city, and tourists will be given rides on reindeer sleighs. To decorate the capital, 16 kilometers of garlands have been hung along highways, in parks, squares, and city streets, and New Year's installations have been erected.

The main decoration of the city's central square is the New Year's tree, composed of 4,458 elements. It stands 31 meters tall, and the total length of its 3D-effect light garland is 8,500 meters. Controlled by the latest microchips, it can be used as a giant video screen with a resolution of 85,000 pixels. The stand and base are also a decorative art object with openwork LED backlighting. Assembly of this unique tree took 10 days, and there are no similar ones in Russia.

Extensive preparatory work has borne fruit. According to Dmitry Savvateyev, Head of the Tourism Department of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra Department of Industry, Khanty-Mansiysk expects approximately 80,000 tourists for New Year's and Christmas. By the end of December, air tickets were sold out, and 991,000 hotels had been booked for New Year's Eve by tourists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and surrounding regions. According to the Vice Governor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Khanty-Mansiysk has approximately 40 hotels, hostels, and other accommodation facilities, capable of accommodating up to 5,000 guests. If we take into account the okrug's capacity, the total number of hotel beds will be approximately 19,000 (not including tourist centers and country resorts).

By the way, the Cronwell Inn Yugra hotel offers a New Year's discount on stays from January 1 to 8.

Main events

Pre-New Year events kicked off in the city on December 8th. On the opening day, 12,300 people attended the event in the city's Central Square. For the eleventh time, the convention brought together approximately 50 New Year's wizards from all over Russia, led by the All-Russian Father Frost. The following day, the grand prize—Father Frost's Staff—was raffled off. Snow Maidens danced in circles with children, and at the conclusion of the event, Father Frost from Veliky Ustyug lit a large New Year's bonfire in the Valley of Streams.

Throughout the event, events will be held at the Archeopark tourist complex, where the opening of Chumovaya Street took place on December 22. It is an ethnic village of 10 themed tents. Each tent has its own purpose: a craftsman's workshop, a souvenir shop, and a tent-hotel where you can spend the night. Throughout the evening, the Khanty and Mansi tent owners treated guests to delicious muksun fish soup, venison shurpa, and lingonberry juice, and shared stories about their daily life and traditions.

Those who wished enjoyed reindeer sleigh rides, an interactive performance, and a fire show.
