The Aviation\/LAX metro station closest to Los Angeles International Airport will be out of service for the next two and a half months. During this time, the airport's already poorly organized public transportation service will become even less reliable, reports Travel.ru.<\/p>\n

The closure of Aviation\/LAX (and four subsequent stations up to Redondo Beach) is due to preparations for connecting existing Skytrain lines with a future new line that will directly access the airport. All five Green Line stations from Aviation\/LAX to Redondo Beach will be closed from January 26 to April 7. <\/p>\n

During this period, the G shuttle bus, which normally connects the Aviation\/LAX station to all airport terminals, will operate from the last open station, Hawthorne\/Lennox. This will significantly increase travel time, which already averages about 20 minutes, and may further increase shuttle wait times, which also average about 20 minutes. <\/p>\n

As a reminder, in addition to this bus transfer, the actual subway ride from Aviation\/LAX to the city center takes at least an hour. However, the situation will improve slightly after the launch of the new subway line.<\/p>\n
