The main waterway of Paris, the Seine, has overflowed its banks due to prolonged heavy rains. On January 24, the water level in the river rose to five meters and continues to rise. According to weather forecasters, this figure could reach 6.2 meters on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Due to the threat of flooding in Paris, the third line of the high-speed metro has been closed, Interfax reports. Water has covered some Parisian roads. In the Louvre and the Mus\u00e9e d'Orsay, located in close proximity to the river, priceless exhibits are being moved from the lower to the upper floors due to the risk of flooding. The Louvre website reports that the museum continues to operate, only the lower level is closed, and the Mus\u00e9e d'Orsay informs visitors that it will be closed from 18:00 on January 25.<\/p>\n

An orange (penultimate) flood alert has been issued in 23 departments in eastern and northeastern France.<\/p>\n
