\nIn 2014 I spent a few days in Tasmania, riding about 5 thousand km on a motorcycle on and off-road. <\/p>\n

Tasmania is an island, to understand where exactly it is you need to imagine Australia. Australia, as we know, is the middle of nowhere, so from this middle of nowhere it takes another night to sail on a ferry - these are fairly accurate coordinates of the place by which you can find Tasmania on any globe in Moscow.
\nThis is the 8th state of Australia, which occupies only this island<\/p>\n

So, having set off from Sydney to Melbourne, 900 km from home, and having set aside 10 hours for the journey, I arrived safely 40 minutes before the ferry to Tasmania departed. Actually, you can get to Tasmania in three ways - by ferry, by plane, or by sailing to the island yourself - it's only 400 km, no more.
\nThe ferry goes there under the grandiose name Spirit of Tasmania, with departure from Melbourne at 7-30 pm and arrival in Tasmanian Devonport at 6 am. In summer, another daytime trip is added from 6 am to 9 pm. <\/p>\n

your transport is loaded there too. You are given a choice of seats or reclining places, depending on your needs. The ticket price starts from $70 for a seated *airplane* seat and from $75 for a motorcycle each way. Prices are set at random, there are often discounts and promotions, so the final price is highly variable - the same bed can cost from $70 to $200, on different days.<\/p>\n

my route was not very well thought out, completely without reservations for campsites and hotels (although I had planned them in advance) and changes were made to it during the course of the play, which did not always come from me. The final route looked something like this<\/p>\n

In general, Tasmania is a pretty cool island in terms of size. It is famous for its absolutely crazy nature and reserves. Well, and a bunch of historical attractions. In general, I came to the conclusion that if you end up in Australia as a tourist and there is a time limit, then forget about Australia and go to Tasmania - it is fucking awesome. But you definitely need to do this by car (there are many rentals there). And even better, by jeep. And even better, like an adult, on a motorcycle - this is how you will be granted complete peace of mind, dzen. and dzen. <\/p>\n

Tasmania is micro Australia, only better. <\/p>\n

Tasmania is most similar to Scandinavia, albeit after a long mutation of nature.<\/p>\n

You have an amazing opportunity to go from +30 to +6 during the day, yeah. From the ocean to the mountains with snow. Or maybe I was just lucky with the weather, I don't even know.

You can also eat local oysters in Tasmania in almost any cafe, and there are many wineries there - you can just get drunk and taste everything.<\/p>\n

The first thing I came across was the national park and the Liffey Falls, a cascade of several waterfalls in the mountains<\/p>\n

then I moved to Launceston - the second largest city on the island, a rather beautiful town, somewhat similar to small Scandinavian towns <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

By the way, there is a museum of cars and motorcycles there. It is quite small, but with a couple of interesting examples. In order not to clutter it with photos, I have it in my LJ as a separate post.<\/p>\n

Then I moved on to the Scamander area, where I had planned to spend the night. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Well, the end point of this long day. camping scamandertouristpark.com.au<\/p>\n

$10 per tent site, luxury room.<\/p>\n

I was the only one, so I could choose any place<\/p>\n

quite a nice place, there are even some villages around and there are even places to eat and drink<\/p>\n

The temperature fluctuated between +30-35 all day <\/p>\n

waking up in Scamander, in a wonderful campsite, where kangaroos once again tried to steal my sneakers, I moved towards the island's capital <\/p>\n

On the way, stopping in various towns and reserves to look at something, in a town called Bicheno, I came across another motorcycle museum<\/p>\n

a wonderful little town with great cafes<\/p>\n

From there I moved to Coles Bay Nature Reserve and Freycinet National Park - a very beautiful area with a variety of wildlife and panoramic views<\/p>\n

You can spend a few days there - great hiking trails, warm, light and no flies. But I moved further along the coast<\/p>\n
