\nPraiano is a small town located between Amalfi and Positano. Compared to its more popular neighbors, Praiano is less well-known and less popular, but this and many other factors lend it its own charm. I wouldn't compare these towns, though, because each has its own unique character.<\/p>\n

We passed Praiano almost every day, and even sailed past it a couple of times. What's striking is its location. White houses are scattered along the slope of a cliff descending to the sea.<\/p>\n

Isn't it amazing? Isn't it unique? I'm, as always, overwhelmed with joy, filled with unbridled emotion! And, it seems to me, the most beautiful view of the city is from the sea.<\/p>\n

When you enter the town, it seems small but quite sprawling. According to the latest census, it has a population of about 2,000.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The city's name comes from the Latin word "praia," meaning "open sea." Indeed, Praiano faces the sea, and given that the houses are perched on a steep cliff, the views are simply breathtaking.<\/p>\n

You look at these houses and it seems as if they are cut off from civilization. Even from the monitor, you get a sense of serenity, calm, tranquility, and bliss.<\/p>\n

Praiano was founded in the ancient era and for a long time remained a small fishing village. Even today, it has retained an atmosphere of antiquity and comfort, and at the same time, there is a certain "wildness" of this place, due to rocky beaches, steep mountains and simply breathtaking views.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

Thanks to its atmosphere and scenery, Praiano has always been considered a prestigious holiday destination. In the 10th and 11th centuries, the town was the summer residence of the doges of the Duchy of Amalfi.<\/p>\n

The terraces of Praiano offer stunning views of the coast and Positano.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

Due to the landscape, all the houses in the city are located as if steps down, and the back wall of the houses, as a rule, fits tightly against the cliff.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

One of the city's landmarks is the Church of St. Luke the Evangelist, built in the early 12th century. The city's patron saint, St. Luke, is buried in the church.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The church is located in the central square. It's probably the most spacious place in the city.<\/p>\n

The square, as well as all the streets and corners of the town, offer breathtaking views. The Amalfi Coast is famous for its stunning landscapes, but Praiano has its own unique charm\u2014a blend of fishing and upscale vacations, combined with captivating mountains and the deep blue sea. And if you climb to the town's highest point, the only thoughts that will come to your mind are "wow" and "ahh."<\/p>\n

Praiano is famous for two more beaches. One of them, Marina di Praia, is located behind the Furore Fjord, before entering Praiano. There are no beach markers, so follow the steep descent down to the beach. This is the beach from the seaward side, seemingly hidden in a gorge.<\/p>\n

And one more photo - there are villas on the left, the beach is almost in the center, and you can even see the road behind you.<\/p>\n
