The European Commission has extended Greece's simplified entry system from Turkey to the Dodecanese islands in the Aegean Sea, including the popular tourist destinations of Kos, Rhodes, Lesbos, Samos, Chios, and others. This year, Russian tourists vacationing in Turkey, as before, will be able to take excursions or multi-day tours to the Greek islands without the need for a Schengen visa.<\/p>\n

According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, the simplified visitor scheme for the Dodecanese Islands has been in effect since 2012 and provides short-term (up to 7 days) visas to cruise tourists arriving from Turkey. This visa is not a Schengen visa, does not extend to the rest of Greece, and does not grant entry to other countries. The visa costs 35 euros.<\/p>\n

If a tourist plans to spend several days on the islands, they must present a return ferry ticket and proof of payment for a hotel on the island when applying for a visa.<\/p>\n
