Russia's first Tin Soldier Museum opened today in central St. Petersburg. It is located in a restored historic building\u2014the former caretaker's cottage of the Suvorov Museum.<\/p>\n

The collection of tin soldiers that forms the core of the museum's exhibition was assembled over decades, according to the St. Petersburg administration's press service. In total, the museum, which chronicles the history of tin miniatures, houses over 60,000 figurines. <\/p>\n

The museum consists of six halls. One features a grand scale model of "Suvorov's Crossing of the Alps," another has been converted into a puppet theater, and a third displays dioramas telling the history of the Russian army. The museum's crown jewel is a model of the last parade of the Russian Imperial Guard in 1914.<\/p>\n
