Atlantic Road

Another remarkable place, which, according to many authoritative sources, is considered one of the most beautiful roads in the world. This is a contentious issue and requires a thorough discussion. And I completely disagree with this assessment. Nevertheless, the Atlantic Road is not without its charm, and here, unlike the Trollstigen, this charm is tinged with the romantic colors of love. That's how it seemed to me, and that's how I felt it.

The Atlantic Road is a truly remarkable stretch of Route 64 between Kristiansund and Molde, just 8 kilometers long. But what a road!

Running virtually across the ocean (hence the name), hopping from island to island on gracefully curved bridges, the road has numerous stopping points, with walking paths and viewpoints.

There are even fishing spots, which tourists and locals enjoy.

As I said, the road jumps from islet to islet. On one side, there's the mainland, after all, and on the other, the real Atlantic Ocean. Stretching out to the horizon in all directions.

The coastline and coastal line reminded me very much of the shores of Lake Ladoga with its countless stone islands and skerries.

The road consists of seven bridges with a total length of 891 meters, each of which is remarkable in its own way, primarily due to its shape and curvature. Construction began in 1983, and by 1989 it was already open for use. It's now part of one of the many tourist routes, and to access it, you have to pay an entry fee. I don't remember the amount, but it wasn't very expensive. Your ticket also comes with a tourist map with descriptions of the sights in your language—in our case, a Russian version.

The journey to Trondheim, where we absolutely had to get to today, was still quite long. But the temptation to make stops won out... So, yes, that's it 🙂 And we arrived in Trondheim very late at night 🙂

They also say that in the colder months, like autumn or spring, you can see killer whales, whales, and seals here. No matter how hard I looked, I couldn't see a single one. It's summer now, though, isn't it?

Well, the prevailing opinion is that, while the road is beautiful, its popularity is largely due to the fact that major tourist groups, such as bus tours, rarely travel north of Trondheim and don't take the 17th road to the towns of Bodø and Brønnøysund. However, it's not without its charm!

Source: travel.ru

Another wonderful place, which, according to many, many authoritative sources, is almost the most beautiful road in the world.
